Overview

This hands-on training course builds your skills in the VMware View™ suite of products: VMware View Manager, VMware View Composer, and VMware® ThinApp™. It will provide applicationsoriented administrators with the knowledge and skills to virtualize Windows applications with ThinApp and to choose the best deployment and updating processes for their environment. The course will also present a methodology for analyzing and designing a View solution for the VMware vSphere™ infrastructure. This course is 60 percent lecture and 40% hands-on lab.

Prerequisites

Completion of VMware vSphere: Install, Configure, Manage [V5] or equivalent experience with vSphere.

Key topics

At the end of the course, you should understand the features and operation of Vie, View design prinicples, and ThinApp operation. You should be able to do the following:-
Create and manage dedicated and floating desktop pools.
Configure and manage desktops that run in local mode.
Use ThinApp to package applications. Describe the major components of the Tin App architecture.
Identify design goals, requirements, and constraints.
Recognize situations that benefit from best-practice recommendations.
Analyze design choices.
Install and configure View components.
Deploy and manage linked-clone virtual desktops.
Configure secure access to desktops through a public network.
Troubleshoot problems with ThinApp packages.
Identify information that is required for design decisions.
Use the recommended design process.
Construct a comprehensive View solution.
