With the introduction of the ProLiant Gen8 server line, HP takes a big leap in embedded management, building on the legacy of iLO. Redubbing iLO from “Integrated Lights-Out” to “Insight Lifecycle Onboard”, HP introduces the iLO Management Engine, which will be a part of every ProLiant Gen8 server from the ProLiant 100 Series to the very top of the line. It will also cover the BL, DL, ML and SL Series. Rather than making iLO Management Engine a stand-alone solution, it is an integral part of HP Insight end-to-end infrastructure management, which apart from the iLO Management Engine on the system board, consist of Insight Control on the central management server and Insight Online in “the cloud”. Together and in any combination, these three pillars of our new, broader Insight Management strategy provide functionality for remote control, inventory, provisioning and deployment, maintenance and updates, health management, power& cooling and remote support.
Course overview
The core objective of this course is to provide participants with an overview of HP ProLiant Gen 8 capabilities , enabling technologies and changes in administration. Key tasks and tools are identified for deployment of ProLiant Gen 8 servers from bare-metal. Core administrative tools and differences from previous HP ProLiant generations along with firmware management and intelligentprovisioning are among the new capabilities discussed. The Awesomeness of the Integrated Management Console will provide the foundation for a streamlined approach to server and infrastructure administration. Labs: Courseware will include lab guide as well as video overview to complement technical configuration topics where equipment may not be available.
