ITIL Certification Roadmap
The ITIL qualification scheme enables an individual to gain credits for course they have studied (when they have passed the exams). When candidates have accumulated a sufficient number of credits they are awarded the ITIL Expert qualification.
There are three levels within the new scheme: Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced. To achieve ITIL Expert, candidates must achieve 22 credits, two of which can be gained at Foundation level.
At the Intermediate level, there are two streams: Lifecycle and Capability. The Lifecycle stream is built around the five core ITIL books: Service Strategy, Service Design, Service Transition, Service Operation, and Continual Service Improvement. The Capability stream is built around four clusters:
- Service Offerings and Agreements
- Operational Support and Analysis
- Release, Control and Validation
- Planning, Protection and Optimization
Candidates are able to take modules from either of the Intermediate streams. These modules give them credits towards the ITIL Expert qualification. The Managing across the Lifecycle course brings together the full essence of a lifecycle approach to service management, and is the last course which candidates take to achieve ITIL Expert.
The ITIL Master qualification will assess an individual’s ability to apply and analyze the ITIL concepts in new areas. This higher-level diploma involves the candidates making a written submission and being interviewed.
